Senior Strategist / Senior Planner - Strategic Planning

Strategists have a broad spectrum of experience that will drive their strategic thinking, be it brand planning, creative strategy or business consulting in consideration of Paid, Owned and Earned channels. Our approach is collegiate and thrives on diversity; Strategists work with client services, creatives, data scientists, user experience architects and technology professionals.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Strategist will maintain a primary responsibility in Hong Kong working on regional and local clients or prospects. They may be asked to support the network and other business throughout the APAC region from time to time.

 

The responsibilities of the Senior Strategist are divided across four key competencies:

 

1) CLIENTS & COMMERCIALS

  • Be a go-to strategist for colleagues and clients alike in identifying improvement strategies
  • Listen to clients’ needs, address where they may have issues, escalating if appropriate
  • Partner with clients to develop and follow strategic direction
  • Proactively learn about market context, trends and client activities
  • Use clear and persuasive language to apply Digitas methods and best practices
  • Maintain relationships and help strategy leaders in the network


2) PEOPLE

  • Be a role model and champion for strategy within the agency
  • Express yourself in a compelling, passionate & credible manner
  • Bring clarity to the work of your team and help to enhance their recommendations
  • Be open to knowledge sharing and participate in coaching
  • Proactively seek and engage with experts to develop your point-of-view
  • Provide on the job feedback on deliverables with internal and external stakeholders


3) DELIVERY & INNOVATION

  • Play trusted role on diverse and complex projects within blended discipline teams
  • Champion the brand promise of What’s Next in collaboration with teams and clients
  • Achieve objectives by delivering work on time, on brief and within budget
  • Without devaluing others’ view points,ask questions and probe assumptions
  • Analyse information quickly to break down projects into key tasks and activities
  • Maintain a consistently excellent quality of strategic, creative and presentation output


4) CRAFT SKILLS

  • Simplify complex problems into clear strategic directions and inspire creativity in others
  • Uncover unique insights and directions that realise customer values and business goals
  • Prepare briefs and briefing stimulus for Creative, Production and Project teams
  • Apply a variety of research and analysis techniques to form a strategic framework
  • Provide input and inspiration throughout the creative ideation process toward delivery
  • Ensure that KPIs are at the forefront of our thinking for all briefs and projects

 

Required experience and skills:

  • 3-6yearsof strategy experience in relevant digital and creative agencies –consulting and client-side experience will also be a consideration
  • Demonstrable experience in a variety of strategic engagements with regional or global client brands in multi-cultural, multi-agency and network teams 
  • Exposure to a variety of industry verticals with depth and breadth of expertise in one or two categories
  • Comfortable with a wide variety of digital engagements from brand campaigns to programmes and web builds
  • An analytical mind with deep insight into your market using a variety of primary, secondary, qualitative and quantitative research and / or analytics techniques
  • Up-to-date knowledge of technologies and digital platforms popular in APAC and China covering Paid, Owned and Earned/ social media
  • Confident working independently and collaboratively to deliver on brief and on time – the role reports into a regional lead who will not always be present to provide oversight
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
