Senior Technical Officer/Technical Officer (PR0286/22-23)

The Visualisation Research Centre at the School of Creative Arts, HKBU, a hub for research on immersive audiovisual experiences, seeks a Senior Technical Officer to manage its technical facilities. The Senior Technical Officer is expected to provide effective solutions for all technical challenges and issues arising from the ITF Future Cinema Systems project.

Responsibilities:

• Manage IT and audiovisual facilities especially immersive environments, including computer hardware integration, server and networking setup, software installation and updates, data management and backup, determination and recommendation of emerging requirements, tracking market developments, securing pricing and supervising purchasing;
• Manage IT and audiovisual support for exhibitions and installations;
• Provide equipment maintenance, repair and inventory, including implementing the regularly required cycles of system calibration, maintenance and repair, and maintain the equipment inventory of the Visualisation Research Centre;
• Conduct tours and demonstrations, including controlling and repairing the running of systems with respect to requirements of VIP tours and other educational and community outreach activities that the Visual Research Centre engages in; and
• Perform ad-hoc duties as required by the Management.

Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree in Information Technology / Electronic Engineering or related disciplines
• Solid knowledge of electric, electronics and programming would be highly preferred
• At least 5-year professional experience in technical support management. Candidates with less experience will be considered for appointment as Technical Officer
• Good communication and interpersonal Skills
• Good command of written and spoken English & Chinese (including Putonghua)
• Self-motivated, responsible, and able to work independently
