INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES OFFICE
Specialist / Assistant Specialist (Technology Infrastructure Services) (three posts) (Ref. 19100902)
[Appointment period: each for twenty-four months]
The appointees will work in the Network and Communication Services Section which is responsible for developing, implementing and supporting the University’s Next-Generation Physical Access and Control Infrastructure (PACI) implementation project. The appointees will be required to:
(a) assist in the installation, maintenance and operation of the campus networking equipment including Wi-Fi, campus routers, LAN switches and any other LAN equipment and tools within campus and also in off-campus offices;
(b) assist in the installation and administration of various network system, i.e. radius servers, DHCP servers, network management servers etc.;
(c) assist in the installation, maintenance and operation of Voice and Unified Communication System (IP Telephony System);
(d) liaise with related parties on the installation and maintenance of structured cabling system and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS);
(e) handle network issues reported by users, user requests and enquiries;
(f) perform scheduled maintenance work during non-office hours;
(g) perform 7x24 after-office-hour standby network service support on a roster basis when required; and
(h) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Office or his delegates.
Applicants should have:
(a) a recognised degree or a higher diploma in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline;
(b) preferably at least one year’s post-degree experience for degree holders and three years’ relevant working experience for higher diploma holders;
(c) preferably working experience in the information technology service industry, especially in administration support for various network services and network equipment;
(d) preferably experience in installation and administration of large-scale Wi-Fi network and IP telephony systems, DHCP and radius authentication platform;
(e) good interpersonal and communication skills; and
(f) the ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English and Chinese.
Preference will be given to those with working experience in monitoring network equipment from Cisco / H3C / Huawei / Juniper / Aruba.
Candidates with lower qualification or less experience will be considered for the post of Assistant Specialist.
