Supervisor of Secondary Academics

The job holder will provide key guidance and administrative support related to secondary school orientation programs, course scheduling, academic advisory, and supporting student learning.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Orientation of Students, Parents, and Faculty

  • Assist with the orientation of new staff in relation to role.
  • Orient new students and parents to the School.


2. Course Scheduling

  • Develop the secondary school timetables and implement course enrollment procedures.
  • Update secondary school course offerings booklets.
  • Coordinate course selection advising and sign-ups.
  • Distribute student and faculty schedules.


3. Report Cards and Transcripts

  • Supervise the report card process for secondary school.
  • Support, generate, and verify transcripts.


4. Adjusted Schedules

  • Facilitate design and communication of secondary school adjusted schedules.
  • Supervise the End-of-Semester Exam weeks.


5. Support for Student Learning

  • Work with the secondary school principals to improve programs, and support student learning and well-being.
  • Coordinate systems for monitoring and supporting the academic progress of secondary school students.
  • Coordinate support for student learning, and progress towards graduation.
  • Develop and implement systems for academic advising.
  • Evaluate online course offerings, and propose changes.
  • Work with Online Learning Coordinator to evaluate online course offerings, improve systems for supporting students, and propose changes to online course offerings.
  • Coordinate the production of the secondary school student planners.
  • Analyze and report data and make recommendations to support student learning.
  • Collaborate with the secondary school principals in developing and updating handbooks and manuals.
  • Provide individualized academic advisory for target students.


6. Coaching

  • Liaise between the secondary school and the curriculum & instruction team.
  • Provide non-evaluative cognitive coaching to secondary school faculty.


7. Others

  • Attend forums as requested by the Dean of Curriculum & Instruction, such as parent association forums and curriculum review forums.
  • Fulfill other jobs and responsibilities reasonably assigned by the Dean of Curriculum & Instruction.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Education or Bachelor degree in any subjects with PGDE (Postgraduate Diploma of Education), or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • Cognitive coaching certification is highly preferred, and if not certified, the candidate must be willing to be trained.
  • At least 5 years of classroom teaching experience.
  • Experience in coaching adults is preferred.
  • Previous experience with PowerSchool or a similar platform is highly preferred.
  • Previous experience in an international school and familiarity with North American curriculum is highly preferred.

  • Able to demonstrate coaching qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, faculty, parents, administrators, school staff and general public.
  • Able to motivate and facilitate faculty.
  • Able to set, communicate, monitor and evaluate goals.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skill, able to resolve conflicts and balance multiple parties’ interests.
  • High level of personal accountability.
  • Openness to give and receive feedback to facilitate growth and achievement.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skill, inclusive of meeting facilitation, group presentation, accurate documentation and appropriate correspondence.
  • Expertise in problem-solving, critical thinking and strategizing skills.
