Sustainable Development Manager

Sustainable development is a strategic imperative for our business. The group’s Sustainable Development Office (SDO) led by the Group Head of Sustainability, advises senior management of key developments and emerging risks related to sustainable development (SD), and is responsible for setting environmental policies and targets, monitoring the implementation of our group strategy, SwireTHRIVE, and our ESG policies, and for communication on ESG matters.

Responsibilities: 

  • Support the delivery of the Group’s sustainability strategy, SwireTHRIVE 2.0
  • Horizon scanning for sustainability-related policy developments, emerging risks and trends, to provide advice to senior management
  • Develop the Group’s annual SD report, and support with responses to various ratings questionnaires and investor surveys
  • Provide expertise on sustainability to support cutting edge cross-departmental/ cross-operating company projects 
  • Chair topic-specific working groups from operating companies to develop policies, standardise approaches and enable best practice sharing 
  • Promote SwireTHRIVE 2.0 to external and internal stakeholders, and raise awareness of sustainability strategy and initiatives via both formal and informal training to staff 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in environmental management, organisational sustainability, business administration or related disciplines
  • At least 6-8 years of relevant experience in either an in-house SD position or SD consultancy
  • Strong working knowledge of sustainability reporting protocols and standards
  • Proven track record in leadership role of developing and promoting internal and external communication materials on sustainability 
  • Strong technical skills in greenhouse gas accounting, sustainability data management and sustainability reporting
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English. Proficiency in Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) is preferrable
  • Sound interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and data management systems
