Position Summary

The Systems Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining all aspects of our client’s technology. This includes daily support incidents, desktop and server troubleshooting, hardware/software installation and upgrades, new infrastructure build outs and relocations. The incumbent will interface with a high profile financial industry client on a daily basis thus requiring the highest level of presentation, communication and professionalism.

Position Responsibilities

Maintenance

  • Monitors and maintains network servers and workstations and the programs running on them.
  • Contributes to knowledge base of support issues and resolutions.
  • Troubleshooting
  • Supports recovery of clients’ environment in the event of systems failure or disaster.
  • Acts as an escalation point for ECI Support Desk to coordinate with internal resources and vendors in helping to diagnose and resolve issues in client’s environments.
  • Engages in self-directed continuous improvement and learning of various products.
  • Investigates and follows both industry and ECI best practices and updates ECI standards
  • Documents standards on the ECI WIKI
  • Participates in scheduled team meetings.

Position Requirements

  • College diploma or University degree in the field of Computer Science or equivalent field and/or related experience with a minimum of 1-2 years of end user support

Technical Requirements

  • Advanced troubleshooting and integration of Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008/2012, Active Directory, Group Policy
  • Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7/8
  • Email and spam troubleshooting
  • Experience deploying home networks including Cable/DSL/FIOS modems, firewalls, hardware and software VPN clients
  • Understanding of networking concepts: TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, DHCP, DNS, Routing, Switching and Firewalls
  • Reinstalling Operating Systems and all appropriate drivers.
  • Microsoft Office 2007-2013
  • Symantec Antivirus or similar software
  • Experience with virtualization software such as VMWare vSphere
  • Data backup and recovery with Symantec Backup Exec or similar enterprise level software

Preferred

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2012
  • Microsoft Exchange 2007/2010
  • Working knowledge of Cloud based architectures such as SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, and Multi-tenant environments
  • Blackberry Enterprise Server 4.x/5.x and Blackberry handhelds
  • Experience with Citric XenApp or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work in an independent environment with moderate supervision
  • Ability to work under a moderate noise level (i.e., working on an open floor with printers, telephones, and computers; or working in a datacenter)
  • Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines (including late nights and weekends)
  • Ability to travel for business and work beyond normal business hours when necessary
  • Ability to be flexible and successfully respond to multiple work pressures
  • Willing to work extra hours as needed; including late nights and weekends
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components
