The Manager of the ISF Makerspace Cyberport is responsible for the overall operation of the makerspace and the development of programs and services which meet the needs of ISF Academy and community learners who have a wide-range of experience and expertise using the equipment in the lab and who cross the boundaries of multiple disciplines including education, arts, business, engineering, and computer science and the humanities. This position requires a strong commitment to maker learning coupled with a vision for using emerging technologies and evidence-based decision practices to develop, implement, and assess services. In the initial 1-1.5 years, one of the key components of the role is to work with the faculty of the ISF Academy (K-12) at the ISF Makerspace Cyberport campus.


  • Manage all aspects of the daily operation and use of the Makerspace.
  • Design and facilitate maker and STEAM programs for preschool, elementary, middle school and high school aged youth.
  • Ensure programs meet the needs and interests of students.
  • Develop and strategize program curriculum to tie into our impact STEAM learning goals.
  • Monitor the quality of STEAM programs to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ability to engage in reflective practice including setting goals to further ISF’s Makerspace mission.
  • Collaborate with and support ISF teacher teams in the development of new Makerspace programming.
  • Manage the delivery of programs, including learning experiences for ISF programs and community relations.
  • Manage the training of all staff, volunteers, interns, and guests on the use of the Makerspace software, computers and manufacturing equipment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners and organizations.
  • Provide basic technical support for Makerspace hardware and software.
  • Serve as a liaison with internal staff and external program partners.
  • Acts as a key spokesperson of the organization in the community.
  • Maintain departmental responsibilities (meetings, email, phone, etc.).


  • Bachelor Degree or above in Electronics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines
  • Hands-on experience on Makerspace hardware and software (e.g. 3D printer, laser cutter, molding machine)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Cantonese (Mandarin is a plus)
  • Able to work independently as a self-starter
  • Strong communication skills
  • Passionate in teaching and learning
