[Appointment period: twelve months]


The appointee will be required to:

(a) prepare and assist in laboratory classes of discipline-specific subjects in Biology and Biotechnology, Cluster Area Requirement (CAR) and service-learning subjects;

(b) provide technical support in student projects, research and consultancy activities, field work, promotional activities, and other related activities;

(c) liaise with relevant parties and provide support for the smooth operation of field visits, both within and outside Hong Kong;

(d) assist in the day-to-day operation of teaching/research/specialized laboratories;

(e) maintain the laboratory facilities and working environment in good conditions and in compliance with the requirements of the Health, Safety and Environment Office of the University; and

(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his delegates.

The appointee may be required to work outside normal office hours occasionally. Compensation time-off will be arranged where appropriate.


Applicants should have:

(a) a recognized degree in Applied Biology, Biotechnology, Food Science or related disciplines;

(b) at least five years of relevant post-qualification work experience, preferably with experience in microbiology, biotechnology, physiology and/or food safety;

(c) a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with proficiency in Putonghua being an advantage;

(d) good computer literacy; and

(e) strong self-motivation, problem solving and analytical skills as well as good interpersonal and communication skills.
