The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) offers over 20 innovative degree programmes that are vocationally oriented and developed with significant industry input. All the programmes are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, and most are also accredited by the relevant professional bodies. In 2018/19 AY, twelve programmes are included in the Government’s Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP), which provides subsidies to students varying from $41,000 to $71,700 per year. Major duties:
(a) To set up workstations with required ingredients and cooking equipment;
(b) To prepare ingredients for cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, etc.);
(c) To keep a sanitised and orderly environment in the kitchen;
(d) To check quality of ingredients and ensure food and other items are stored properly;
(e) To assist to source and develop potential suppliers for the procurement of food & non-food items for Spring, the Training Restaurant, to meet business needs and to maintain good working relationships with existing suppliers;
(f) To monitor stock and assist to process purchase orders, monitor delivery of outsourcing logistics vendors and quality of goods, manage inventory and cost;
(g) To monitor purchase orders and update vendors’ fulfillment records, and to provide assistance in evaluating vendors quotation; and
(h) To assist to manage direct import from overseas if needed.

(a) A recognised diploma or a higher certificate, preferably a higher qualification, in Hotel and Catering, International Hospitality Management, or related discipline;
(b) At least 2 years’ relevant work experience, preferably in tertiary institutions, or relevant experience in hotel, club and restaurants, food and beverage, or catering operations;
(c) good knowledge of operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of relevant equipment;
(d) good negotiation, problem-solving, management and interpersonal skills; and
(e) good command of spoken and written English and Chinese.

(1) Candidates may be appointed on temporary terms of employment.
(2) Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend and pass a trade test.
(3) The appointee may be required to perform shift duties, or work in irregular hours on a need basis.
(4) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
