The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) offers over 20 innovative degree programmes that are vocationally oriented and developed with significant industry input. All the programmes are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, and most are also accredited by the relevant professional bodies. In 2018/19 AY, twelve programmes are included in the Government’s Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP), which provides subsidies to students varying from $41,000 to $71,700 per year. The post is for the Human Performance Laboratory, or Sports Therapy Centre of the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Sports and Recreation Management.
(a) To assist in the installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of sports science and therapy equipment such as metabolic system, heart rate system, motion capture system, blood lactate, glucose, ketone system, electromyography system, ultrasonography system, shock wave and foot scanner etc.;
(b) To assist in the day-to-day operation and management of the laboratory or centre;
(c) To provide technical support to staff in teaching and research related activities;
(d) To assist academic staff in preparation, demonstration of laboratory or practical classes and projects;
(e) To assist academic staff in designing and developing training materials, and conducting practical training or workshop(s);
(f) To assist in the development and implementation of projects assigned;
(g) To coordinate the procurement of consumables and equipment; and
(h) To assist in inventory estimate, control and storage.
(a) A recognised diploma or a higher certificate, preferably a higher qualification, in Sports Science, Sports Therapy, Sports Medicine, Biomedical Engineering, or related disciplines, or equivalent;
(b) At least 2 years’ relevant work experience, preferably in tertiary education institutions, or testing laboratories;
(c) Good knowledge of operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of relevant equipment;
(d) Good negotiation, problem-solving, management and interpersonal skills; and
(e) Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese.
(1) Candidates may be appointed on temporary terms of employment.
(2) Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend and pass a trade test.
(3) The appointee may be required to perform shift duties, or work in irregular hours on a need basis.
(4) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi), a member institution of the Vocational Training Council, is established for the advancement, promotion and development of education suited to the developing needs of Hong Kong. THEi provides quality self-financed programmes with a strong vocational orientation at degree and above levels and admitted its first cohort of students in September 2012.
