Temporary Laboratory Officer

Major Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee shall mainly be responsible for the following:

  • Preparing the necessary materials and equipment for setting up laboratory class;
  • Demonstrating laboratory experiments and providing analytical instrument training to students and laboratory users;
  • Assisting in handling of license, purchasing orders and inventory for updating, renewal and maintaining the facilities in the laboratories;
  • Maintaining and handling fish and algal cell cultures and keeping them in good conditions through daily monitoring and adjustments;
  • Ensuring the safety and security related issues in the laboratories; and
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by supervisors.


Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

  • A Higher Diploma or above in Environmental Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Food Science or a related discipline with 2-year relevant experience;
  • Experience in operating and performing maintenance for instruments;
  • Detail-oriented, hardworking, responsible, able to meet deadlines and can work independently;
  • Good knowledge in aquaculture management is an advantage; and
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese.


Terms and Conditions for Appointment
Successful candidate will be appointed on a temporary full-time contract. Benefits will be provided in accordance with the statutory provisions.
