The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) offers over 20 innovative degree programmes that are vocationally oriented and developed with significant industry input. All the programmes are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, and most are also accredited by the relevant professional bodies. In 2018/19 AY, twelve programmes are included in the Government’s Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP), which provides subsidies to students varying from $41,000 to $71,700 per year. A training restaurant named “Spring" was established in order to facilitate the development and delivery of the curriculums of Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Hotel Operations Management (HOM) and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Culinary Arts and Management (CAM) programmes, which offers pragmatic operational experience for the students. The studio will implement simulation catering projects through which students can put the theoretical knowledge they learn from classes into practice.
The appointee shall report to the Restaurant Manager and assist in the management of the daily operations of the training restaurant including, but not limited to food & beverage service, restaurant maintenance, staffing, procurement and inventory management. Specific duties include:
(a) to supervise the floor during service and ensure all standards are met;
(b) to provide high level of customer satisfaction;
(c) to ensure staffing levels and stock of restaurant supplies are sufficient based on business needs;
(d) to ensure cleanliness and tidiness of restaurant area on a daily basis;
(e) to ensure maintenance of equipment by compiling defect list and follow up accordingly;
(f) to support the Restaurant Manager in ensuring the smooth running of the Restaurant and to aid in the co-ordination of the team; and
(g) to perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
(a) A recognised diploma or a higher certificate, preferably a higher qualification, in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management or related fields, or equivalent qualification;
(b) At least 2 years’ relevant work experience in related industry;
(c) Knowledge of Food & Beverage operations, service techniques & products, as well as guest interactions;
(d) Self-motivated, punctual with good team spirits, positive attitude and willingness to learn; and
(e) Ability to communicate in English.
(1) The post of Term Floor Supervisor is in the rank of Technician.
(2) Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend and pass a trade test.
(3) The appointee may be required to perform shift duties, or work in irregular hours on a need basis.
(4) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
(5) Immediate availability is highly preferred.

The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi), a member institution of the Vocational Training Council, is established for the advancement, promotion and development of education suited to the developing needs of Hong Kong. THEi provides quality self-financed programmes with a strong vocational orientation at degree and above levels and admitted its first cohort of students in September 2012. It comprises the Faculty of Design, the Faculty of Management & Hospitality, the Faculty of Science & Technology, and a Department of General Education.
