The Technological and Higher Education Institute (THEi) offers over 20 innovative degree programmes that are vocationally oriented and developed with significant industry input through three faculties - Faculty of Design and Environment, Faculty of Management and Hospitality, and Faculty of Science and Technology. All the programmes are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, and most are also accredited by the relevant professional bodies. At present, seven programmes are in the Government’s Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP), which provides subsidies to students varying from $40,000 to $70,000 per year. Faculty of Science and Technology upholds the “vocationally-oriented" approach emphasizing internship opportunities for students to gain a competitive edge, with a balance of professional knowledge and practical knowledge.
The appointee shall report to the Principal Investigator (PI) with the experimental and analytical findings. He/she will conduct experiments in the research areas of photocatalytic oxidation for wastewater treatment.
For the post of Term Research Assistant I, applicants should have a Master’s degree in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science or relevant disciplines; or a recognized degree in a relevant discipline with relevant work experience.
For the post of Term Research Assistant II, applicants should have a sub-degree in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science or relevant disciplines, or equivalent level of study.
The applicants should have proficient communication skills in both written and spoken English. Those with (a) research background in photocatalysis and synthesis of photocatalyst or membrane technology, or (b) research background in material science and synthesis of nano-adsorbents or nano-photocatalysts, or (c) experience in operating analytical equipment such as SEM, XRD, TEM, Raman, XPS and FTIR would have an advantage.
(1) Candidates may be appointed on part-time or temporary terms of employment.
(2) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays.
(3) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
