The Technological and Higher Education Institute (THEi) offers over 20 innovative degree programmes that are vocationally oriented and developed with significant industry input through three faculties - Faculty of Design and Environment, Faculty of Management and Hospitality, and Faculty of Science and Technology. All the programmes are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, and most are also accredited by the relevant professional bodies. At present, seven programmes are in the Government’s Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP), which provides subsidies to students varying from $40,000 to $70,000 per year. Faculty of Design and Environment offers a broad range of degree programmes to meet the multi-disciplinary demands of the rapidly developing creative and environment-related industries. Students are encouraged to participate in overseas exchanges and open competitions to improve their professional standards and broaden their vision.
The appointee shall report to the Principal Investigator (PI) of the project and is expected to assist the PI in development and co-ordination of research activities and daily operations of the Sustainable Living and Environment Laboratory under the Centre for Sustainable Design and Environment. He/she will be required to conduct field studies and data analysis; assist in drafting research proposals for external funding; and perform other research duties as assigned by the PI.
For the post of Term / Temporary / Part-time Research Assistant I, applicants should have a recognised degree, preferably a Master’s degree, in Fashion Technology, Fashion Design, Product Design, Accessories Design, Furniture Design or related fields; with relevant experience in using 3D printer, CNC router, laser cutting machine or body scanning machine.
For the post of Term / Temporary / Part-time Research Assistant II, applicants should have a sub-degree in Fashion Technology, Fashion Design, Product Design, Accessories Design, Furniture Design or related fields.
Those with good organisation and interpersonal skills; and the ability to use library resources effectively will be an advantage. Fresh graduates of Master’s degree will also be considered.
(1) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays.
(2) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
