Tooling Manager
  • Degree in engineering (preferably mechanical, manufacturing/industrial or similar)
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience in similar engineering environment
  • Previous experience in product costing, product development, and manufacturing; supply chain knowledge preferred
  • Experience in deployment of Six Sigma & Lean Manufacturing
  • Exposure to a Global, multi-cultural environment is essential
  • The ability to create a vision and strategy and direct the function towards that vision
  • Ability to influence peers and manage resources indirectly to drive goals
  • Knowledge of design tools including 2D and 3D programs, Office applications and presentation software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Passionate leader capable of motivating and nurturing a high performing team
Job Duties:
  • The Manager, Tooling, partnering with the Product Development Team will lead the implementation of a Strategic Plan to deliver excellence in Injection Tooling and Molding to drive efficiency and cost improvement, across the sourcing network comprising China & all global manufacturing locations. 
  • Develop & implement a plan to deliver breakthrough improvement in Injection Tooling Cost & Molding Labor Cost, through adoption of new technologies in Tool Design, driving efficiencies in Tooling Procurement, & putting control on the Tooling over the entire life of cycle, including the development of appropriate IT platforms
  • Supported by a Management Review Process, review with senior Design & Development team on a regular basis for short /medium term objectives & KPI
  • Focus on innovation in tooling design & molding efficiency to drive improvement in tooling & downstream product cost, while simultaneously improving speed of development & on-time performance of Indirect Tooling
  • Develop plan for compliance with Internal Control requirements for management of -Tooling throughout its Life Cycle, including the design of an appropriate IT Platform
  • Conduct assessment of tool makers' capability & implement appropriate training for capability development. 
  • Build capability in the relevant Global Sourcing Locations by working closely with the Vendors & independent Tool Makers
