Unmanned Aerial System Operator

As an Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Operator/Project Manager,

you will be responsible for the following job duties:

  • develop and direct the technical scope of each project, and manage project budgets,
  • managing, planning, coordinating, and executing flights utilizing our UAS for data acquisition, mapping, and inspection services for our clients.
  • manage all aspects of UAS missions, onsite preparation such as validation of flights, set up sensors, set up ground control points for aerial surveys, complete pre-flight checklists, fly aircraft (i.e. remotely operates unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) from ground control station) and collect aerial data.
  • ensure UAS is ready and tested on time, coordinate regulatory permissions, and generate flight paths to properly collect aerial data.
  • in-flight and post-flight checks and procedures, locally post-flight processing of collected data and flight mission’s analysis. 
  • prepare various evaluations and develop training material
  • Perform maintenance on aircraft, as necessary.
  • Pack and ship aircraft and equipment, and coordinate paperwork and transportation of goods.
  • provide direct liaison with various internal technical teams, serve as one of the primary client and regulatory agency point of contacts, and manage both internal staff and sub-consultants during the execution of the work.
  • Supervise RC pilot or external pilot.

Extensive knowledge in aircraft systems, aerodynamics, flight procedures, navigation, datalink theory, aviation terminology, radio communications, and advanced airmanship. Other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:
Associates Degree in related field and 6 years of applied experience. In lieu of formal education, 8 years of directly related experience may be considered.

UAS Controller Certificate is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sport, private, or commercial pilot license;
  • Experience operating commercial UAVs;
  • Able to evaluate the quality of acquired aerial data;
  • Basic post-processing techniques for aerial data;
  • Excellent RC piloting skills, on helicopter;
  • Abie to work hands-on with small UAV systems, including assembly, disassembly, testing, and troubleshooting;
  • Experience filing aviation regulatory paperwork;
  • Knowledge of industry specific safe workplace principles and practices;
  • Able to travel and work long hours outdoors under various field conditions and exposure to traffic, heat, cold, and other adverse conditions.
  • A.S. or B.S. degree in Professional Piloting or related technical field. Civil Engineering and/or Surveying experience a plus.

We also consider less experience candidate and/or without the above qualifications but show strong interest in getting in the unmanned aerial system industry.
