Warehouse Manager

Role purpose:

To Manage the Distribution team to meet service levels through maximising productivity and performance cost effectively. Ensuring that the company’s quality standards are not compromised and Service Level Agreements are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

People Management

  • Manage and lead an effective and cohesive Distribution Team
  • Lead, develop and motivate direct reports ensuring continuous improvement through regular team sessions
  • Ensure all direct reports are regularly appraised, and have clear career and individual development plans
  • Manage appraisals, disciplinary, grievance and performance management procedures of direct reports
  • Ensure a high level of morale and productivity

Technical Management

  • Monitor the performance and productivity of the Distribution Team
  • Ensure the achievement of KPIs
  • Proactively work to identify improvement opportunities, effectively apply any changes to warehouse processes and design in order to achieve improvements in operational performance.
  • Effectively plan and execute all resource requirements ensuring that the right people, processes and equipment are in place to meet service levels and that productivity is maintained.
  • Develop and promote a housekeeping program in the Warehouse.
  • Maintain employee awareness of and compliance to company Quality, Health & Safety, Environment, and Security.
  • Deliver business results commensurate with the high performance environment and within the business framework of values, vision and people.
  • Establish initiatives that will contribute to the continuous improvement of Distribution Operations.
  • Maintain high levels of security in the stock handling areas.

Financial Management

  • Ensure all processes and solutions are both cost effective and cost justified.

General Management

  • Promote company values and to lead by example.
  • Deliver operational and customer service excellence within own team and cross functionally.
  • Promote the highest standards of inter and intra team communication.
  • Responsible for continual self- development.
  • Seek continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility.
  • Become an ambassador for Operations within the wider business.
  • Regularly inform the Head of Operations of key operational data, development and updates.
  • Hold responsibility for Health & Safety in the warehouse and related external areas.

Skills and Experience:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Cantonese
  • Excellent spoken Mandarin desirable
  • Knowledge of either lean manufacturing or six sigma desirable
  • Proven ability to lead by example
  • Exceptionally well organised and efficient
  • A flexible approach to work, hours of work, and be prepared to work additional hours from time to time
  • Capable of working under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to work to stringent deadlines
  • Ability to communicate business decisions and changes to working practices clearly
  • Ability to demonstrate a professional and objective perspective at all times
